Ingeniously combines two Swahili phrases ‘Kimbwetani’ and ‘Kinywa Salama’ to create a sense of connection between the project and the target audience. ‘Kimbwetani’ is a Swahili word referring to a college gathering spot where intellectual discussions thrive. ‘Kimbwetani’ symbolizes the vibrant hub where college and university students converge for lively conversations on various matters. Addition of Kinywa Salama which means Safe Oral Cavity establishes a direct link to the projects mission of addressing Oral Health, a realm often overlooked by college students aged 18-35 years.
A special oral health education platform for the university and college students coordinated by us in partnership with the students’ government organizations under the ministers of health. We provide oral health education in form of storytelling, movie screening students, debates and dialogues both physically and virtually. We ice the cake by pointing out the negative impacts of drug abuse among university students to oral health and mental health.
Our pilot project kicked off in Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology where we reached a population of 100 university students.
